Mary, Kelly, and Santi and I were watching them one by one, and it was time to see what they had created without my involvement. Kelly had been cracking up ever since they had their video shoot hardly containing her excitement. Mary just kept saying, “Don’t ask me any questions.” And Santi had a poker face. Obviously, it was adorable. The choice of song, the scene by the lake here in Utah, Kelly and Mary’s high five. I ate up every second. I have tried to teach Kelly words for an English language music video before and it is not easy. I knew what Mary must have done to have gotten Kelly to sing that line “We are family…” A zillion beautiful scenes floated by from our first date in Berkely, which Kelly and Santi participated in, where Santi is just learning to walk in the park, to our outings in Bogota, and recent photo shoot in front of the Mormon temple in Salt Lake. The video was perfect and hilarious. Especially with Kelly pretending to speak for Santi at the end, saying all the things he is grateful for, a habit we repeat at every meal.
And then it hit me. Do all of these people now know I have a girlfriend? I am not exactly out on FB, I scrolled through the videos and quickly concluded that all 25 more or less knew. This too cracked me up as Mary told me that Sara outed her early in the process as “Amy’s girlfriend, the Tech wiz.” Ok, roll with it.
