Mindy - love love love this! Your kids must be horrified! Love the screens of dozens of Mindy faces!!!! Sweeney Sister Days are coming back to me! Can we do videos for everyone's birthdays????
Mindy! I finally got time to watch the whole thing! This is just so fun!! Not a dull moment -- hilarious! I mean HILARIOUS. Not only is the lip sync perfect, every gesture is right on with the music. Is there a video out there of the Sweeney Sisters? That would be fun to see again!
The opening few seconds give you no idea of what is to come--a painting on the wall. You do know that it is a great song, I mean can we even stand how much great music came out of the Motown era? And then Mindy comes on, and in the very first line, "over time, I've been building my castle of love." You know you are in the presence of greatness. But you have no idea where she is going to take this. The next scene with the double and mirrors gives you a hint, and you can't help but start cracking up as her mirror image sings to her other mirror image. Next, we realize that this is filmed in multiple locations, we are outside, and now it is snowing, and there are hearts and every word is perfect, and it is dead hilarious all at the same time. It is impossible to pick a favorite scene, I mean you can try, you could easily pick 1:09 where she splits into 15 tiny heads, but then you would realize at 1:28, when she is now on the black and white tv that you were wrong to have thought you had a favorite scene, it just keeps getting better, and just as funny. She picks it up with her double fists in front of her chest and really meaning every word, "painfully turned every stone." So until this point it is just hilarious, too much, perfect, and funny, but if you have watched it five times like I have, and you are really listening, when she gets to the cresecendo at the end, I couldn't help but tear up, even as I top this comment, the words and the meaning are so damn perfect. "And though you don't believe that they do, they do come true, for did my dreams, come true, when I looked at you. And maybe to if you would believe, you too might be, overjoyed, overloved, over me." So once you pull it back together, and wipe the tears out of your eyes, you have to pay close attention to not miss the kick and hand swipes at 2:42. If there were awards, Mindy would get many for this performance, but one of the awards would be for keeping us listening with rapt attention for the entire 3:41 song. Mindy, I miss you so much, you are so dead hilarious. Thank you so much for this hilarious, loving, beautiful gift.
Thank you for the comments -- alas, I must reveal my secret: It's an app called "videostar" and if you have tween girls you know all about it!!! Amy, Happy Birthday! I love that song and it seemed perfect! xoxo much love to you and your growing family
Wow, special effects! Amazing. Also you are a lip-syncing champion, very realistic. I love the reveal in the first few seconds.
